Closing sub-Saharan Africa’s massive energy access gap will require substantial investments; around 20 billion USD through 2030, according to the IEA. Asian and European nations are at the forefront of hydrogen technology development, focusing on creating hydrogen solutions through renewable and low carbon energy sources including solar, wind and gas, as well as investing heavily in infrastructure, such as hydrogen fuelling stations and production plants, to create a sustainable hydrogen supply chain. What opportunities exist for furthering Asia and EU’s cooperation with Africa? How can energy security be harmonised across continents?
